Zero Invasion - Revision 47

Welcome to the Zero Invasion thread. I can't promise anything except not being an asshole to all new mappers that will join this project, you can be sure to depend on me when it comes to answering troubling questions or what can be improved in your map. Feel free to join this project. Rules are very simple:

0 - Use 3d floors only as decoration, using it for gameplay purposes is prohibited

-----------------------------------

1 - Be sure you'll be active in this project before you join, you don't have to be active 24 hours per day, appearing at least once or two per day is enough

2 - If you start mapping for this project, weekly status updates are enough to make me happy. As point 1 says, you don't have to be active all-day, PM'ing me progress once or two per week is enough. Some screenshots won't hurt or the map itself ;)

3 - Your maps can take X time, as long as you follow point 2, take your time to polish the maps, put new gameplay stuff in it, improve it or ANYTHING. Don't be in a hurry, this project won't have a deadline until next year probably.

4 - If anyone wants to add an additional map in one of three episodes (read: expanding them), i'll go bite a bullet and accept it. Remember, there can be 5 maps max per each episode

5 - Feel free to use High quality Mp3s as music, though i'll compress them to OGGs on later

6 - If you have MSN, i'll gladly speak to you. I'll PM you the MSN contact address if you're a part of mappers team.

7 - Have fun, take your time and you'll come out on top.

8 - I can modify your maps, don't worry! I'm a professional, I definitely won't screw your maps up, My primary reason to modify your map (if needed) is to fix all bugs you can't FIX yourself (Only if the bug is really annoying to fix) or those that you didn't notice during the map's development. But hey, that's called Teamwork and support, we must help each other like brothers of blood.

Here are the rules for Episode 1:
- All maps in this episode must be natural, tech-bases can be made as long as they include natural outdoor areas!
- No hell stuff, if you want to put in any, do it only inside buildings, the demon spawners using DEMx_x textures are an exception
- Don't go overboard with difficulty and size, maps don't need to be huge as (Z1INV02) to be good.

Here are the rules for Episode 2:
- All maps in this episode must be hell-themed, they can include all sort of buildings as long as it keeps up with the theme, of course UAC buildings can be put in those maps since they can be claimed as "lost in time and space" haha
- Not all maps must be huge, as long as they include a bit of challenge they will be great!

Here are the rules for Episode 3:
- All maps in this episode must be a mix of everything. IT can be a mix of tech and hell or even void-styled stuff! To make map's atmosphere quite original.
- No texture choice restrictions or in theme, you can go overboard on this one!
- All maps must be hard but not to the point it's impossible! AS long as it's fair, it's all ok

YELLOW - The map is under big progress and needs a lot of tweaks and stuff before going online on SG's servers
RED - The map has been just started, it will take many weeks to finish the map not because i'm lazy, because i want to make the map professional in many ways imo. (Look: Z2INV1)
BLUE - The map is in form of Concept right now, so it hasn't been started yet!

You people shall hunt some bugs for me :P

Here's what i need:
- What kind of bug
- Where is it
- Which map
- A screenshot
- Possibly map coordinates.
- Suggestions how should i fix it.
- I need ideas, suggestions how to fix "the monster is on other side of the map and i can't find it" problem in all mine maps. Zalewa somehow does it well while i can't seem to do so yet. Another thing that makes me be behind him.
- That's possibly everything. BUT I NEED YOUR SUPPORT pronto.

That's about it on the list. I need your help, if you wanna see this project to be in a better state/quality. Then move your back, download the wad and do the bug-hunting. both in maps and decorate! That's all i want you to do. I never thought it would come to this. But somehow i expected this to happen at the same time.

Don't worry pals, i'm still working on it. However don't expect a new revision soon because i want to finish Z1INV01 and rehaul Z1INV02 (done) along with Z2INV01 (partially done). Estimated release of revision 12 (or possibly 13 if Zale jumps out with a new map): June 2009

I just needed to say that, you are an awesome mapper, really.
But i have one thing to say about your maps tough... You need to use more textures, in Doom good use of textures can really give another fell to a map (a better one).

Using custom textures, even if it is a lame photoshop of an original doom texture, can turn any map into an eye-candy.

Your mapping skills are fine. You just need to work on those textures.
Trims are always a good ideia.
